Greenwich Youth For Christ named CACT Partner of the Year
Greenwich Youth For Christ were thrilled to be recognised as Charlton Athletic Community Trust Partner of the year at a recent celebration of all CACT does in Greenwich. We were thrilled to attend the award ceremony at the House of Lords, hosted by Lord Michael Grade CBE.
We have been a CACT partner since 2012, when they were awarded the contract to oversee the funding of the Youth Service in Greenwich. During that time we have built a strong relationship with them and become a reliable partner who year on year hit our targets and engage with a strong number of young people. We were especially thanked for our flexibility and when called upon, ability to set up our girls programme "Move" to help address the shortfall of female engagement within the youth service. We were also acknowledged for our ongoing relationships and lasting work we do with young people, being that consistent point of contact each week over a number of months and years.
We read in Colossians 3:23-24 "Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ." It was a great evening and a real pleasure to be recognised for the work we have done over a number of years, not from a point of pride or for winning an award in itself, that's honestly not what we are about, we work with young people because we love to see them thrive and be all they were created to be. Being recognised for that is real blessing and an added bonus to our work, but certainly not the reason for the work.
So we want to thank CACT for the recognition and the award, but more importantly I want to thank the young people we get to work with. Those who share a small part of their lives with us and allow us to walk alongside them for a period of time. We may not be able to fix all your problems and provide you with all the answers you want and need, but we can say, we were there and we are for you and this award is because of all of you.
