Get Involved
Volunteering is at the heart of Greenwich Youth for Christ. We rely on people of all ages willing to give their time and talents. We have a range of opportunities, although these will vary according to circumstances. By following best practice models we aim to make our volunteers’ experience a really positive and rewarding one. Areas include:
Hospitality
Might you occasionally be prepared to put up one or more people for a few days to a couple of weeks? Or longer?!!
Fundraisers
GYFC relies on ongoing financial support from many people, so we always welcome fundraising ideas and offers to raise money for us. We also recognise the huge positive potential of such events on the local community.
Volunteer Youth Work
This involves frontline work with young people, hand-in-hand with a comprehensive package of training and support. At present, vacancies in this area are limited.
Professional Support Network
We are always looking to establish contacts with people who will provide us with specialist advice or support. This might be matters legal, financial, buildings, media, marketing or music in fact anything at all.
GYFC Reps
We would like members of Greenwich Churches to become reps for GYFC. These reps would act as a contact point for events, support and people interested in finding out more about the work of GYFC.
Advisors / Mentors
We offer our volunteers and workers supervision and/or mentoring. We would like to expand our network of experienced care professionals /practitioners who can fulfil this role. If you feel able to offer this vital support, we’d love to hear from you.
Trustees / Council of Reference
From time to time we have vacancies on the Board of Trustees and the Council of Reference. The trustees have responsibility for ensuring good governance of the organisation. The Council of Reference oversees strategic direction and practice.
Practical Help
We often need help moving furniture, decorating, catering, coffee rotas, setting up events support, distributing leaflets etc etc
Prayer
As a Christian Ministry GYFC needs prayer support. Staff meet regularly to pray, and it is essential that people remember us in prayer. There are a number of ways you can become more involved:
- Commit to pray regularly for the work of GYFC, receiving regular prayer updates
- Commit to pray for a specific member of staff or project
- Become involved in developing the prayer life of the community, perhaps leading sessions during team training or retreats
It may be that you have little time available, but could help us either through your work, or through introductions to those wishing to become involved.
