This project stream provides and facilitates Christian and community input to the holistic learning experience of young people in schools. This may be delivered directly by Greenwich YFC or be based in partnership working with churches and other providers. We do see a particular opportunity to encourage and facilitate churches to become involved with schools to enrich the learning experiences of the young people.
We are keen to work in partnership with schools and colleges where possible involving local churches. Our involvement will always be tailored to the needs of the school. This might include:
- Assisting organising days or part days off timetable for a year group or cohort of students on themed topics such as homelessness, spirituality, Christianity and the Media, relationships…· Organising and staffing extra-curricular clubs for the students, before during or after school
- Taking assemblies / worship services
- Pre exclusion work, for example working with students who are at risk of exclusion either on or off site, developing alternative curriculum models to deal with specific issues.
Through the Violence Intervention Project we have a community based programme of work that combines Parenting Classes, Therapy, Social Skills Groups and work with School Staff, targetting students aged 5-10. Read More
